Phoenix, Arizona

Geri here.
We arrived late on Monday night in Phoenix, Arizona. We stayed with a new friend, Cathy, related to my friends, the Colemans, who I know from Cameroon. She graciously hosted us so that we could see the Colemans, and so I could visit my dad, who lives in the Phoenix area.
After some good rest, we visited with Cathy, and my friend Karen, and had a restful late morning and afternoon. That evening, we joined Karen and her son Zac for his going away dinner hosted by teachers of an International Sunday School Class from his church. It was a little like heaven to have so many nations present in their home, brought together by Jesus. Zac and another member shared about upcoming moves. Zac is going to be a missionary for two years working on a ship. He is very excited for the opportunities to meet and minister to people all over the world.
At the dinner, there were people from: Iran, Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia, China, Philippines, Nigeria, and Cameroon (adopted country). We had many interesting conversations within this mix of life experiences.
Bon Voyage Zac! We hugged Karen's neck, and Zac gave us a ride back, then we said our goodbyes to him, too.
The next day, Cathy and Vickie went on an adventure to Goodwill and to Tuesday Morning. I was so glad they hit it off and had a great time. I headed over to see my dad, after fourteen years. I spent the afternoon with him and his girlfriend, Kim. We told stories, talked, and visited. We also laughed at the dog a lot - he is a mess.
Then we met Cathy and Vickie for a delicious dinner, and then I found a Trader Joe's to pick up some things before heading back to our lodging.

The next day, I headed back over to my dad's armed with lots and lots of pictures, and he looked at them all. We talked about family history as well. After taking some pictures together, we finished off our evening with Chinese food and sushi.

Here is a picture with my dad:

Vickie and Cathy went to Ikea and found lots of cool treasures. And we managed to fit them into the car! Awesome! They also got yummy frozen yogurt.

A saguaro cactus.

The next morning, we were headed east, to "get our kicks on Route 66"!
Highway desert.

Going down, then up!
