Where your great American meal comes from - America's heartland

Geri here!
As we left N. Indiana and looped around Chicago, our next day's drive took us through the beginning of your steak or hamburger, cheese, and corn on the cob dinner! All we needed was the baked potato! (Further west, right?)
After skirting the suburbs of Chicago for a few hours, we headed into flat farmland. There were awesome rock formations in Wisconsin!!!

Fun fact: Wisconsin claims to be the water park capital of the world! And we saw lots of them, mostly indoor, so maybe it's true! Totally unexpected for this FL girl!
We stopped to eat at Culver's, home of the Butterburger. They have their own root beer, and made their custard everyday. It was delish! (I made a float.)

We saw many of the famed 10,000 lakes in Minnesota. Slowly, the rolling hills and stands of trees came into view, too.

We saw plenty of corn, especially the corn capital, Olivia. And people are friendly; a random farmer waved at me.
:-)

South Dakota still has rolling hills, and lots of corn. The towns are more spread out. The farm equipment is HUGE!
They number all their streets, no matter how rural

I was happy for long, straight roads, and the long summer day, so we could make good time to get us to my friends, the Friesens. It was so good to see them and talk about life in and away from Cameroon (I taught their son). We are very grateful for their hospitality! After too short of a visit, it was time to head further west!
